About Banish Misfortune
What is it that makes Banish Misfortune the best dance for your function? The answer is simple! Most (not all) bands have a good play list of dance tunes, but very few have any idea of how they should be played for dancing. Banish Misfortune is CALLER-LED which means not only that it has an excellent carefully-selected repertoire of English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh and American dance tunes, but importantly that it knows exactly how these need to be played to ensure that the music both sets your feet tapping and guides you through the dance.
What to expect
Banish Misfortune's typical line-up is fiddle, accordion and drums, but we have properly rehearsed "line-ups" ranging from 2 to 5 musicians. This flexibility means we can offer you the right combination for your event, whether it be an English Barn Dance, an American Hoedown, a Scottish or Irish Ceilidh or a Welsh Twmpath - or even a mixture of all these genres. However if budget and space are at a premium and/or you want the flexibility of a number of dance styles on the night plus maybe a party disco then a "2-4-1 Ceilidh" could be your best choice (see our web site for more details). We've been providing clients with successful entertainment since 1963, so have a no-obligation chat to our experts about your requirements.
