About Brian Heywood
A barn dance, ceilidh or hoedown is one of the most enjoyable and inclusive forms of social event around. It's fun for all ages and is an ideal way of breaking the ice at a party, wedding or corporate event. We can provide a night's worth of Kickin' up the sawdust with English and American barn dance, Scottish ceilidh, Irish ceili, Australian bush dance and International dances for Weddings, Parties, Corporate Events as well as Burns' and St Andrews' Nights. The band's sound combines the accessibility of traditional dance music with the power of rock music which appeals to all ages. Our caller and all round dance expert can guide you through the dances. Even reluctant dancers will find it hard to resist joining in and everyone can be part of the fun; there is something for all ages and abilities.
What to expect
On the night, our caller will select the dances to suit the mood and ability of the audience. The dances are all based on the Scottish / English / Irish / American social dance tradition (i.e. Barn Dance, Ceilidh and Irish set dances) with a few other influences thrown in. Our aim is that the dancers have a great deal of fun rather than to produce some kind of proper dance display. If you have a particular favourite dance then we will certainly endeavour to include it in the set, but one of the reasons that our dance sets are so enjoyable (and inclusive) is that the caller will 'go with the flow'. The band has an instrumental line-up of caller, fiddle, guitar, bass and a drum kit. We can also do a 'covers' set of well known country, Rock'n'Roll and/or classic rock covers, either between the dances or as a separate set.
