About Chris Ward
I started playing guitar at 19, inspired by heavy metal, I went on to receive a BMus in Popular Music Performance from BIMM. At the moment I teach up to 20 students as well as running workshops of up to 25 students. I'm looking to bring these workshops and classes to a national level giving people as much access to BIMM level knowledge as possible as I have been told I have a natural knack for teaching. I enjoy teaching as I believe it is important for those of us with experience to pass it on.
What to expect
Through my workshops people can expect me to turn up very punctually and have a simple, quick and easy set up, working as independently as possible. Any students coming in will receive a warm welcome to help put them at ease. As the workshop moves forward I would begin with an ice breaker such as asking everyone to give me an example of music they like. The main bulk of the workshop is set to be as engaging and entertaining as possible with all students being engaged and feeling like they are working together as a team. Through working together the aim would be to either learn a simple piece of music by the end of the session or record some parts for an overall track by going through each individual part with each section of students and putting the parts together to form a whole. In my profile I have put an example of a track I used in a workshop. Finally I would open the floor to any questions and stay around after to engage and answer questions from individual students.
